Children have a developmental and instinctual need to connect with nature. We believe that children need to explore and learn about their world using all their senses. Seedlings Preschool builds on children's inherent curiosity about the world by using hands-on, nature based activities to promote social, emotional, physical and intellectual skill development. Age-appropriate activities are planned that integrate literacy, arts, culture, music and community services while encouraging cooperative learning and social competence. Experience through active participation is a more effective teacher than information at this age so activities will focus on hands-on, child centered, and playful nature-based activities. It is also recognized that play is the language and work of young children. Nature-based play is the foundation upon which value-based learning takes place.Outdoor and experiential education distinguishes itself from classroom learning by using the student's whole environment as a source of knowledge. Communities, rather than the classroom alone, are the focus for learning. While learning about the environment is a significant concern, Seedlings encompasses more than studies of nature. We use the outdoors to promote learning from experience, and it can be used to enrich every area of early childhood learning. Take a look at our Alphabet project for one exciting example!
Special family events planned throughout the year.
No fundraising or parent-duty days!
Given that the early years are a critical period for development, Seedlings Preschool feels that our children deserve only highly trained and qualified staff. We also believe in low child-staff ratios to ensure every child receives the attention and support they deserve.
